Functions and design directions

Picture of design direction explorations on a whiteboard

Whiteboards are great for brainstorming–lots of space, easy and quick to change…

Here I have a list of functionality that the product, a capacitive touchscreen, photo-focused tablet, should support, some sensible subset of which would fit onto the screen or screens on which we are working. Because of the expanse of the whiteboard, a couple of different design directions can be explored and reflected upon side by side, and some have already been discarded and erased.

The next step in this was to flesh out one of the design directions more.

This is a picture from a group exercise during Cooper’s two-day Interaction Design course, which I took for direct training in their Goal-Directed Design (using personas) in 2010.
